Osinbajo chairs the FEC’s first meeting of 2023.

The first Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting of the year is being presided over by Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbajo in the Council Chamber of the State House in Abuja.

Boss Mustapha, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Doctor Folasade Yemi-Esan, the Head of the Federation’s Civil Service, and Doctor Adeola Ipaye, the Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, are all in attendance.

Members prayed before the start of the Council meeting under the direction of Senator Hadi Sirika, the Minister of Aviation, and Minister of Youth and Sports, Sunday Dare.

Over 20 ministers and their ministers of state attended in person, which was unusual.

The Ministers of Industry, Trade, and Investment Niyi Adebayo, the Minister of Health Osagie Ehanire, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development Sadiya Farouk, and the Minister of Mines and Steel Development Olamilekan Adegbite were all there.

The ministers for labor and employment, Dr. Chris Ngige; works and housing, Babatunde Fashola; agriculture, Mohammad Abubakar; aviation, Hadi Sirika; interior, Rauf Aregbesola; and Niger Delta, Umana Umana, are also in attendance.

Additionally, the ministers for Special Duties, Power, Police Affairs, Youth and Sports, Sunday Dare, Justice, Abubakar Malami, Transportation, Mu’azu Sambo, and Environment, Mohammed Abdullahi, were present.

Other state ministers include Mariam Katagum for industry, trade, and investment; Festus Keyamo for labor and employment; Henry Ikoh for science and technology; Zubairu Dada for foreign affairs; and Timipre Sylva for petroleum.

President Muhammadu Buhari is anticipated to return to the nation today after attending the Third Forum of the African Conference for Peace in Nouakchott, Mauritania.

Buhari told other African leaders that Nigeria and other regional organizations on the continent and the rest of the world are working assiduously to address existential threats to the very existence of humanity. On Tuesday, Buhari was presented with the “Award for Strengthening Peace in Africa” by the Abu Dhabi Peace Forum.

The President added that both kinetic and non-kinetic strategies are being used by the nation to fight the war against the insurgency and other linked terror groups on a comprehensive scale.
