In a significant decision, the Supreme Court has upheld Alex Otti’s victory as the rightful Governor of Abia state. The court dismissed claims by opponents, stating they couldn’t prove any serious issues with the election process.
There was a dispute about Otti’s party membership, but the court said it’s not their place to decide internal party matters. The court also criticized the opponents for bringing a case it considered unnecessary.
Last year, Otti won the election with 175,466 votes, beating his opponent from the PDP. Otti is pleased with the court’s decision and thanked President Bola Tinubu for supporting an independent judiciary.
He urged people in Abia to work together for the state’s good, regardless of their religion or political beliefs.
